Strong cover art always accompanied albums that were delivered on physical media, but it was always a static image. Since the vast majority of people now listen to music online on electronic devices, artists and platforms are making use of the technology to add movies and animations in album artwork.

As a result, in December 2020, Apple added animated cover graphics to Apple Music. Moving album cover art—exactly what it sounds like.

How to stop Apple Music’s animated cover graphic animating
1. Select Music in Settings.
2. Look for animated art. You can choose between On, Wi-Fi Only, and Off.
3. Tape off. All cover art appears in static form when you first open the Apple Music app.
4. On an iOS or iPadOS device, animated cover art can only be enabled or disabled.

On macOS, it is automatically turned off when Low Power Mode is engaged and on when it is not. It is assumed to save battery power
